Saturday is a special day...

It's the day we get to not go to work! (as well as the day we get ready for Sunday)
Today was great. I went with a couple of people into town today. We went to this great market in Covent Garden. It was Malasian Week there so there was all kinds of interesting stuff going on.

They had some awesome foreign food. Women were weaving scarves and tapestries and people were painting silk scarves. I got a sweet leather wrist strap. It's about the best thing i've gotten here.

We also stopped to watch some awesome street performers. They were riding on big old unicycles. One on a ten-foot and one on a 5-foot. (ok, so I made those numbers up but they were tall for being unicycles) They had this little kid throwing bowling pins up to them so they could juggle too. Although he had to leave early to see the hobbits, it was a good time while he lasted.

After shopping, we hit up the ward BBQ. Most people did a hit and run; snagged some food and sweets then hit the road. However, those who did such missed the best part of the party. We threw around a football for a little bit then a soccer ball and frisbee. We played a game called Rounders (basically mini beseball) and after losing the ball a few times (oh ya baby, in the stinging nettle)(bare feet and shorts) our game evolved into a full fledged 3 on 3 football (soccer) match. It was a blast. We invited a few little kids to play with us and they were actually really good. The boy NeTai was our keeper and made some fantastic plays. He was only 7 and just started playing last year, being taught by his mom. I love playing against big guys that don't want to hurt girls and then whomping on them. Afterwords I went with my flatmate Mike to hit up the local swimming hole. It was well cold but also well worth it. How convenient to wear shorts and a tank that can actually double as a 'swimming costume.' On the walk home we talked about all the fun of the day and how much fun the sports have been that the ward has done. It was really fun. We rode back on the DLR, which I've never done before. We came home and chilled with Simon and ate cold cereal and...
Just for random food information, we ate Lamb and Mint (oh baby) Crisps (yep, another word for potato chips) Mmmm hmm. (They smelled like dog food)
